Much-anticipated music sharing app wahwah.fm released in the USA.

Berlin, Germany. Award winning music start-up wahwah.fm has today released its iPhone app to the American market, allowing everyone to become a live, broadcasting radio station. The app is now available in both the USA and Germany and is planned to become available in additional European countries in the near future.

After a successful release to the German market, wahwah.fm is now also available for music lovers from the United States for free download. The revolutionary app gives users, artists and brands the ability to set up their own radio stations, put together playlists and broadcast them in real time to others, creating a unique shared listening experience and a new way of interacting around music. Everyone has the freedom to set up a channel, choose their songs and go on air.

wahwah.fm has excited industry experts and the media across the globe since arriving on the scene in June 2011. Featured in media titles such as the BBC and leading publications The New York Times and Germany's Spiegel Online, it has already been described as a "Foursquare for sound" by TechCrunch Europe and "an exciting tool" on ARTE.

Reaching the iTunes App Store recommendation page within 4 days only from its German release date, wahwah.fm was also voted recently as one of the top ten most promising start-ups in Germany by both Zehn.de and Computerbild.de. The young start-up has already been through a successful pre-version phase that allowed people to source music from their SoundCloud accounts.

The full version now enables music fans to source tunes from their own local iPhone libraries and share their broadcast with their Facebook friends. This is the first exciting step in creating a perfect, seamless experience – incomparable to any other music service.

wahwah.fm is a unique and challenging project and as such it involves the permission of different and varied music interests to ensure its legality. The company is proud of the agreements it has reached with numerous labels and collection societies such as the German GEMA and the American Sound Exchange amongst others. wahwah.fm is now in the process of finalizing agreements with a few remaining labels and is on the way to creating the most comprehensive music catalogue possible for the user.

After a successful closed beta testing period wahwah.fm is now available for music lovers from across the globe for free download. The revolutionary app gives artists, private users and brands the ability to set up their own playlists and share them in real time with others, creating a unique listening experience and a new way of interacting around music. Everyone has the freedom to set up a channel, choose their songs and go on air.

wahwah.fm closes new round of funding

Award winning music startup wahwah.fm has announced today it completed a new round of funding led by Hasso Plattner Ventures. It will enable the Berlin based company to further improve its product and expand internationally.

wahwah.fm has excited industry spectators and the media across the globe since arriving on the scene in July 2011. The app allows for every iPhone holder to create their own radio station and broadcast their music wherever they are in the world, whilst at the same time allowing for other users to tune in, in real time.

Founded in October 2010, wahwah.fm went through a successful pre-version phase that allowed people to source music from SoundCloud. The full version coming out within the following weeks will enable music fans to source music from their own local iPhone libraries. This is a huge step forward as it allowing for a much more enhanced experience.

Recently announced as one of the top ten most promising start-ups in the country by Zehn.de wahwah.fm is intent on creating a revolutionary new way of socializing around music. The company has already secured all the necessary licensing agreements so that the user experience is legal.

wahwah.fm ONE released

Innovative location based music app goes live.
Berlin based startup has announced the unveiling of its app's first version called wahwah.fm ONE. The app is now available in the Apple App Store worldwide. For this first version, wahwah.fm has decided to focus on the audio distribution platform SoundCloud as its music source. SoundCloud is an efficient tool to pick songs and make playlists from.

Founder Philipp Eibach elaborated on the release of wahwah.fm ONE: "We are genuinely excited about wahwah.fm ONE, the first step in allowing people a fully integrated mobile music experience. In our upcoming release, later this year, you will also be able to pick from other sources of music including your iPhone library." Described by TechCrunch as a "Foursquare for sound", the app has already won several awards this year, including the Next Conference Elevator prize in Berlin and top honors at this years Mobile Premier Awards in Barcelona.

wahwah.fm wins top prize at Next Elevator 2011, preparing wahwah.fm ONE

High praise has followed wahwah.fm after taking top honours at this year's Next Elevator Awards in Berlin. Out of twelve start-up finalists such as the up-and-coming egoArchive & Halalati, wahwah.fm walked off stage with first prize that also includes a scholarship for one semester at the prestigious Founder Institute Berlin plus an invaluable 24-hour SEO workshop with Hanse Ventures.

With all attention aside, wahwah.fm has been working extra hard to take its first step into the public arena with wahwah.fm ONE. It's called wahwah.fm ONE as this will be the first taste-test with the public, only available for a limited time. wahwah.fm will launch its full version later on in the year. The lead up will be to our full complete version ready for a late 2011 release.

"We're really excited about the forthcoming release of wahwah.fm ONE. Just weeks away from Apple's final authorization, we will then be able to see it in the app store. Fingers crossed, this should take no more than a few weeks", Philipp Eibach, Founder.
